How we are regulated.
Regulation
CSG Legal is regulated by the Law Society of Scotland. Every solicitor practising in this firm holds a current practising certificate issued by the Law Society of Scotland.
The professional rules that apply to us are published by the Law Society of Scotland at lawscot.org.uk.
Legal aid
CSG Legal is registered with the Scottish Legal Aid Board to provide criminal legal assistance. We will advise you at your first consultation whether you are likely to qualify, and we apply on your behalf where appropriate.
Professional indemnity insurance
We carry professional indemnity insurance as required by the Law Society of Scotland. Details of the insurer and the territorial coverage are available from our office on request.
Fees and funding
Where you do not qualify for legal aid, we agree a fee with you before we begin. We will confirm in writing what the work covers, what it will cost, and what would change that figure.
- Legal aid, where you qualify
- A fixed fee agreed at the outset
- An hourly rate, where the work cannot be fixed in advance
You will not receive a bill for work you did not agree to.
If something goes wrong
Tell us first. Most concerns are resolved quickly once we know about them. Write to us at admin@csglegal.co.uk or 10 South Clerk Street, Edinburgh EH8 9JE, setting out what has happened and what you would like us to do.
We will acknowledge your complaint, investigate it, and write to you with the outcome. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may refer the matter to the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission at scottishlegalcomplaints.org.uk. There are time limits for doing so, which the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission will explain.
